I.C.C. Quarters - Season 68

The quarters were played last friday, and from now on we will have two new guys and two of the old ones.
Anfield and Chasing Memories have reached the semi-final after beating two of the other established teams: Citadel and Znigados.
The two guys from Mogzilla, The Rods and Donkalonk Fc also beat two other established teams and now are playing against Anfield and Chasing. Will some of them reach the final? We will see it in a few days...

Friendly League - day 11

After eleven games its still very hard to predict who will win this league. Two teams leading with the same number of points and another one very close. A lot of other teams are nearer the top and with two or three wins in a row they could reach the top places.
Sad to see some of the new teams that have joined smokey recently are all fallen down. I guess its the team strenght that makes the difference in this league.

World Cup final: INTER STELLA D.C 1 - 0 Corinthian Clowns

Two of the strongest teams in the server played in this final.
It was a game for passing, but Ty choose longball with the formation 5-2-3.
Denis won the game in the first half, espcially in the period between minutes 15 and 45.
Second half came with Ty in the lead in tactics but 15 minutes was not enough to score. Denis again in the lead for the last 30 minutes but this time he did not score.
Fair win for INTER STELLA D.C that could be by more goals. Congratulations Denis.

World Cup - Semi-final

Like i was expecting, both more experient teams have passed to the final tomorrow.
DonkaLonk Fc, very unlucky, just lost the game in extra-time against the Clowns. Benfica and Stella played the same tactics all along the game. Stella was the stronger side, and so they won the game in team strenght.

Some big surprises today. Title defenders lost their chances to be champions again. Also Sydney FC Hammers, was beaten by The Rods and Xanoka FC also won against Ty.

Interview: Nick Jolley manager of Anfield Rd Rangers

Its almost impossible not to shoose Nick as the manager of the season on season 67. He just won all the three majors after winning another two last season.
The Sunday League blog gone after him, trying to find what was the secret of his sucess.

Three majors in the same season, 5 majors in two seasons... how did you manage that Nick?
Some would say meticulous attention to detail and I’m sure others would call it being sad. It’s not uncommon for me to spend well over an hour setting up for a big game, going through the oppositions previous AT’s and trying to establish if there are any patterns in their “AT Behaviour”....and there usually is. For example in one Elite Cup match this season I played a side I played in the same comp last season. I spent almost two hours analysing their previous matches that season and came up with a set of ATs of my own. I then looked back at the game the season before and the AT’s I came up with were exactly the same as those I employed the season before. It doesn’t always work but fortunately my sides high stats give me some room for error.

How does it feel to be the manager of the season for the second time in a row?
Really chuffed. It honestly means as much as winning a major.

In last season what was your hardest final?
The World Cup Final without a doubt. I didn’t deserve that win at all. Manly played me off the park but I still won.

You loose the title in the conference, were you expecting that?
I was pretty confident at the start of the season but with Andy, Steve, Chris and now Icky all in there competing it was always going to be difficult. It’s no failure finishing behind these guys.

What´s your objective for this season?
To keep the ICC, Elite, Champs Shield, Super Cup and World Cup, to win 2-1-1 and win the FL Div1.
Seriously, I just want to win 2-1-1. Anything else will be a bonus. Oh and to pick up a couple of young anysided midfielders!!

Do you think you can repeat those major titles this season?
No, I need some sleep.

Season 68 - Conference Predictions (part 2)

Conference 5
This is one of the hardest Conferences at the moment. The conference where the portuguese established teams(Xanoka, Zniggados, Pitorrilhas, Lisboa Mafia) meet the guys from piggy. Also some other teams already established since some season ago that can have something to say.
I believe the title will a fight between 4 teams: Xanoka F.C., Zniggados United, Yourhavingalaff F.C. and ELMAN F.C. Pitorrilhas, Lisboa Mafia and Select XI could be in a next level, with Biscuit Barrell improving season after season, and sooner or later he will be at the same level as the top 4. CS Habarcq France, Woodgate Wonderers, Big Yellow Bun are experienced managers but will be battling for relegation, just because this conference as too many established teams.
From the promoted sides we will have 3 great teams: Stow Wanderers, The Knockouts and Attack Attack Consilidated. All of them will be in the battle for a Conferences Cup place.

Conference 6
I think its the easiest conference around. Last seasons we saw a duel between three teams: US Ebrohiques, Kwoklee FC and Ravens of England. This time to the party will join 4 new teams that if they don´t join this battle, they will be close for sure: Spartans Utd, Shanghai Kickers, Im a Blade FC and Hoarse Whisperers.
Much more competition for this season, also lookout with teams like armoric via sussargues and East Fife.

Conference 7
The moggy guys are taking over this conference. Last season we saw the first of them taking the title(The Rods), and now others are joining.
The established teams were Newton Lions, Jeduthun Army, The KC Shuffle. All of them battling for the title but some teams from moggy will be at the same level as them: DonkaLonk Fc, The Rods, The Jakes and Coulsdon Casuals.
Also from the new teams we have Aston Villains, a team that will be in the race for the title as well.
Also at a good level, but not so strong to fight for the top places we have other two teams from moggy: WIRRAL WARRIORS and Crotonics.

Conference 8
Another Conference very strong, one of the strongest for sure.
Last season it was a long walk for Corinthian Clowns, wich almost won the managers table, but one of the new guys (Down and Dirty) made a great season and finished close to him. It will be hard to predict this one, because i can see here 12 teams sweathing tactics everyday and any of them can do a great job, or not even getting a place in the ICC.
I would say that there will be three teams closer to the title: Corinthian Clowns, Down and Dirty and UNIV. CRAIOVA.
And then a lot of teams that can enter in the top 3, or even better. S.L.Benfica, Jellybellies, Lionhearts, Sharks Teeth, Rickys Rovers and the 4 promoted teams: Arkansas Indians, Super Jays, The Edinburgh Eagles and Fabril. $ of them will not take any place on the next season, and one of them could be me :S

Season 68 - Conference Predictions (part 1)

Its the first day of the season. Usually its the day where most of us can rest a little bit, because there are no private leagues, just the Champion Shield games.
I´m going to do a little prediction of what will be this season, not that i know all the teams, but i think i know most of the teams that are joining the top Conferences.
Here we go, sorry for my english, wich is not my first language as you may have noticed lol.

Conference 1
Last season we saw a confortable win for Sydney FC Hammers. I believe he is the favourite again. Strongest team at the momen tin the Conference but in need of some replacements soon. I don´t know if they will make much importance till the end of the season but if it did it will have some teams ready to challange for the tittle.
We have three teams that came from other seasons ready to battle for the title: Citadel Utd, Queenslander and Reject City II. This last one in the midle of a big rebuilt. Birmingham City FC, South Shields and VCFC did not a great season last time, maybe they will try to improve.
Promoted teams will give a lot of work this season. Cannon Fodder, Heroes of The Man, The REAL Madrid and CHELSEA FC X are all managed by experient managers and managers that came from other servers. All of them will bring a lot of competition to this conference. I know three of them, and believe me they are good.

Conference 2
Another hard conference, where the team that finished in 3rd place was the winner of the three major cups last season. I Believe Anfield Rd Rangers will be the favourite for this season again, but he will battle for the title with 4 other teams: Reject City (previous champion), HH Beticos, Spartak and Kellys Heroes. There is a gap between those 5 teams and the others that came next: Elmo United, Uravinalaf, Bulgaria and Little Creek Lions. I can´t see those ones getting too close from the top 5.
From the promoted teams, i just can see two teams making some mess in the division. Hancock is a established team since some seasons ago, and will try to get some points from the top teams, but will he get into the top 5?
We also have a portuguese team called F.C.PORTO-PT, wich is a team that i know very well, been playing against him for almost 5 years, and i can say that in his days can make some upsets on the top 5.

Conference 3
Last seasons this Conference has been a long walk in the park for The Rumour Mill. His main rival will be once again my good friend Gary Hope, managing the team Chasing Memories. Maybe it will be a good idea to change the name to Chasing Rumour. Will Gary´s team be strong enough to take the title from Chris Elmore?
I can see three other teams coming close to them: Dream Team FC, Lowes A and A.C.Upstreet all can do a good job challenging for the title. Some other experient teams that will finish in mid table and we another promoted that can challange to do big things. Mr. Davo from Australia has arrived to the top Conferences in this one, managing Real Kellyville. Whith his team improving season after season, lets see when he will get into the top 5. Lookout with Ramsgate Reds.

Conference 4
Kookaburra won last season in last games in a really close Conference. All the top 9 last season proved that they were top managers in the server, and it was not easy to take points from them.
Several of last season teams can challange the title again: Kickstart Utd, INTER STELLA D.C , KF PrIsHtInA-LiVe, Stoke CIty, C.D. Usagre and Liquidizers F.C.. Also RBT that just needs to improve his stats a little bit more.
Kookaburra said on the foruns that was going into holiday mode, so i guess he will have some trouble to be the champions again. I predict a new champ over here.
I call some attention from two of the promoted teams: Dalkeith FC and Gotham City. Both managed by experienced managers that arrived from other servers, and they are ready to join the party.

Managers Table: Season 67 (Final)

Once again, Chris Elmore the manager from The Rumour Mill, won the managers table.
After a long walk in the park on Conference 3, he won his Conference with 5 points in the lead and the managers table for the second time in a row.
There´s no doubt that his team is one of the strongest in the server, will he did it again next season?
Very unlucky for mr. Ty Jones(munkeespuzz), if he didn´t forgot to log in the last game, he could have won it.

Champions Shield Final: Anfield Rd Rangers 3 - 1 Reject City II (Season 67)

We all knew that this was going to be a very tough game for Reject City II, a experient team but with a squad full of new players, caugh in the middle of a big rebuild. 12 is the number of new players for Reject, all buyed during this season.
On the other side was Nick, once again, ready to do a hack trick in the major cups this season and ready to revenge is Division title, who escaped for the other Reject City who beat Nick on Conference 2.
I don´t know if you believe in miracles, but i don´t and Anfield started with advantage for the first 30 minutes. Of course that he scored once, and in the next 15 minutes with both teams playing defensive Anfield scored again.
With 2-0 at halftime, the game was almost won to Nick. Reject started the second half with advantage and didn´t scored. He scored in the next 15 minutes with an incredible goal with teams using the same tactics.
Reject changed tactics at 75 and Anfield took advantage on tactics. With a team so strong and with Reject players tired because they where much lower in stamina, it wasn´t hard to Nick score the last goal. Finally Anfield could rest because he was going to win the game.
And that´s three majors in the same season for Anfield Rd Rangers. Simply amazing.

Friendly Ladder (Season 67)

So, today were played the last point games of the season, and we have know what is the new Friendly Champion.
The winner is a portuguese team named Lusitania.com. Not one of best know team, but he made it well and is the new champion. Manly from Sydney FC Hammers finished the season in second.

Elite Cup Final:Anfield Rd Rangers 2 - 0 The Rumour Mill (Season 67)

So, we had here the same Elite Cup final as in the last season. The two strongest teams of the server in a big Cup final again.
Some disavantage for Rumour Mill at the start, because he started the game with one defender injured. Maybe because too much injuries.
Anfield started the game with advantage and tactics just were changed after the first goal. Very clever. Nick changed tactics winning and that was enough for not having disavantage in tactics.
Second half started with Nick in the lead again, and scored the second goal.
Fair win to Anfield, that´s the second major to him this season. Will he win the Champions too? Looking at his opponent stats for the Champions final, i would say that Nick is the favourite, and will get his 3rd major of the season.
But we never know...

So, its the last day of the Conference games and we finnaly know each one them is the champion. I think that the biggest surprise was Anfield not being champion on Conference 2, especially after reaching the three finals of the major cups.

Champions Shield - Semi-final (Season 67)

After beating the Clowns, Anfield Rd Rangers got his third major final this season.
I just wonder if Nick will be able to win all the three major cups this season. Looking at his team, its really possible.
On the other game, Reject City II, a team that is being rebuilt beat one of the new guys Stupac, who was almost the first of the new guys to get into a major final.
Two really close games, and one of them decided just on extra time.

It looks like it will be repeated last season Elite Cup Final.
Anfield and the Mill, are on the final. In just two seasons Anfield got 4 major cups finals and The Rumour Mill got 3. They are the two strongest teams at the moment for sure, so it will be a very interesting game.
